About me:

I'm Erin, I grew up in the Roaring Fork Valley in Colorado. My first time on a wheel was in high school. They had one wheel and let me mess around with it in my free periods. Though it wasn't a formal class, I was hooked on how much fun it was to make a mess and the easy determination to morph that lump into a functional pot.

Like many before me, I find a lot of beauty in the florals and natural geography around me. I find it soothing creating these familiar patterns. I create most things from the potters wheel using a rich, dark stoneware. Which I then like to decorate with slips and sgraffito.

From all the love and support I've received I now get to work out of my garage in Lakewood, Colorado.

Artist Statement:
The process of creating pottery is the perfect medium to reflect the complexities of life. It is imperfect and irregular, and sometimes a game of luck. When technique, materials, craft, and luck unite, you can create beautiful, timeless objects that last centuries. My creative philosophy of embracing the maker's mark and imperfections that come from creating by hand has helped me as a creator and as a viewer of other artists' work. So much around us is made by machines, but in our search for perfection, all these objects have lost their character. I think the objects that surround us play a role in shaping us and connecting us. My pursuit is to reconnect people to handmade objects. To find the warmth and soul that is found only in things created by another human. Pottery is the perfect vessel for this connection. Its practicality can make it an easy addition to your cupboards or kitchen, and bring a little personal connection back into the home.
